Camp Dearborn 1970s
Remember Camp Dearborn in the 1970s? I remember we would take our 1968 Apache pop-up out there and stay for a month almost every summer. I'll never forget the place! TV1, 2 & 3, Speedboat Lake, Peddle Boat Lake, The Beach, the BIG playground, movies at night and The Canteen on Friday nights. Camp Dearborn was the first place I'd ever had a frozen Coke.
For those of you that camped there often as we did you might remember Roller Coaster Hill, the no-roof showers and the Chicken Fat exercise program on the tennis courts each morning with "Uncle Mike". My sisters and I also did the arts and crafts and youth hikes whenever we could. We'd disappear from morning till supper time and our parents never had to worry about where we were.
What a blast! And what memories! I'd love to see some vintage photos and an old map of the park from the 70s.
